Loosing my knitting mojo and a knitalong

Hi all!

Over the years I lost my sewing mojo a couple of times. But lately I just don't feel like knitting (or crocheting). This is the first time since I learned how to knit that I lost my knitting mojo.

Luckily there is 40s themed knitalong so I hope this will bring my mojo back! I decided to start a new project. I really like this Egyptian themed sweater and it's on my to do list for quite some time now.

Hopefully I will be knitting as much as I used to with a new project and a knitalong.

Details about the knitalong can be found here:

Are you joining? Have you ever lost your knitting mojo? And what did help you getting it back?

  1. This one has been on my to do list for a long time. Unfortunately I am craps at intarsia knitting, I just can't figure it out and get holes and tangled yarn balls. I keep my fingers crossed that you will have better luck with the sweater, it is really a stunner.

I'll go read about the knitalong ...

    1. It's such a fun pattern! I have some experience with intarsia. It's not really difficult, it's all about twisting the yarn of the colors you're using to prevent holes in your knitwork.

  2. Oh I know how you feel... I have been knitting a cardi for my father. Just the steeking and assembly left plus the edges and buttons. Procrastination galore..... Can't get myself to do it.
I bet you'll rock the knit along, I've seen your magic! Good luck!

  3. Jaa die jumper is zo leuk! Maar zo veel werk! Veel succes, ik ben heel benieuwd! Misschien dat ik me met de jurk aanmeld voor de knit along, ik zie namelijk dat ze ook WIPs accepteren :)

  4. That sweet is seriously awesome! Oh my goodness!!! I love the 40s and 50s spin on Egyptian revival more than that of any other area, as many pieces have a cute/whimsical quality to them like this great sweater does.

It's very normal to lose your mojo sometimes, even when you love something fierce. I've had that happen to me with various crafts and interests, and even blogging, over the years. The key is to focus on something else, not on where the mojo is lacking and it will always return again (often I find, stronger than ever).

Big hugs & many heartfelt thanks for your wonderfully nice words about my new Etsy shop,
    ♥ Jessica

    1. I'm always scared I never get my mojo back. It's stupid because it really does come back after a while.

  5. I never learned how to knit, but that pattern has made me want to learn how! Not only do I adore Egyptian themed items, but that sweater is also seen in the background on a student in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

So while I can't say I've lost my knitting mojo before, I have certainly lost my sewing mojo before.

I wish you all the best and hope you get your mojo back soon!

    xoxo

  7. My knitting mojo has been a bit lost the last couple month also. I think it comes and goes in circles and perhaps it'll come back by autumn. I have an unfinished sweater waiting to be finished, but I'm just not feeling it right now.
I hope you'll get your mojo back soon. I Looove that Egyptian sweater!

  9. That jumper is amazing, I think you will do such a great job on it as you are so good at intarsia. I think it is totally natural to loose your mojo, even for things that you really love. Don't panic, do something else for a bit and it will come back.
